We all know it simply isn’t healthy to wash your hair every day.  BUT, sometimes you might wait a little to long to wash those locks and you start looking a bit greasy.  If you are anything like me, I have oily hair.  When I styled my curly hair I can wash my hair every 2, maybe 3, days.  Unfortunately now I have a short straight cut.  I don’t know if it’s hormones or what but my hair is noticeably greasy the very next day after I wash it.  As a busy mom of four young boys time is of great value to me.  If I can find an effective product that saves me precious time, well you bet I will have it up on my shelf.

In the past I have used talc powder (AKA baby powder) to absorb the oil.  My favorite is actually Burt’s Bees.  The down side to talc powder is that on a brunettes’ hair like mine, you can sometimes see the residual white powder and if you use too much it makes your hair look dull, even a bit grey.  That’s not very chic now is it!

I have finally found the miracle solution to my oily hair unwashed hair…DRY SHAMPOO!  I spent quite a bit of time researching all the different brands and I believe that  Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo is by far the best.  It soaks up all the oil and gives my hair a little boost in volume. My hair has a fresh clean fragrance of lemon verbena, as if I just washed it.  It doesn’t hurt that it  was voted Best Dry Shampoo and Best Quick Fix by Allure magazine!

In order for Dry Shampoo to be effective make sure you are applying  it properly.

To apply Dry Shampoo powder, part your hair in different sections and lightly sprinkle the powder onto your scalp. (FYI: Use less than you think you need; using too much can make your hair look grey.)  Gentle massage the powder into your scalp/roots, then brush out with a natural bristle brush .

To apply Dry Shampoo spray, part your hair in different sections and lightly spray (about 10-12 inches away) the powder onto your scalp.  Massage through hair with fingertips and leave for a couple minutes. Brush out with a natural bristle brush.
